Pre-production (including sound)

Synopsis

For my corporate video i have been asked to create a short montage of shots that promote the kitchen of a new built house, this is for the companies online portfolio of work. To achieve this i am going to use a mix of medium and close up shots, i will also take some high quality pictures and animate them, i personally feel that a mix of footage and animated pictures will combine to make successful promotional content.

sound

After having several meetings with my client i will only need to find a copy right free sound track as he has specified that the only sound he wants is a fairly quiet backing track to accompany the montage of shots. To achieve this I will search YouTube for artists that post copyright free music,  will then contact them and ask for permission to use their track, the reason I am using copyright free music is because my client has a very tight budget and buying the rights to use a commercialized piece of music can be very expensive. In the original draft of the promotional video the client wanted a voice over, he had arranged for someone to record a voice over, to achieve this is used a zoom H4N, this offers very clear and crisp sound quality, in the final draft the voice over was taken out. There was no need to do any Foley as there was going to be a backing track, the client didn't want any environment noise included.

Location Report/risk assessment

The location in which I would be filming Is in a newly built house, the filming would mainly take place in the kitchen, in terms of risk assessment there is all of the risks a house would hold, worktop corners, slippery floor, etc.....

Shot list

For my shot list i am planing to use a wide range of shots to express the product to the full extent.

Shot 1- For the first shot i am going to be using the company graphics, to accompany this i am going to use a macro shot, this shot will be blurred out whilst the company graphics appear.

Shot 2- For the second shot i am going to do another macro shot.

Shot 3- for the third shot i am going to do a panning wide shot of the whole kitchen area, this will be followed by closer shots to emphasise on the detail.

shot 4- for the fourth shot i am going to do a slow zoom out medium-close shot.

shot 5- For the fifth shot i am going to do another macro shot, this is to emphasise the detail of the environment

shot 6- i am going to possibly do a macro shot/ focus pull this is still undecided but it will be one of them and this will be decided on the day.

Shot 7- For the 7th shot i am going to do a handheld pan of the whole kitchen area, i will correct any shake in warp stabiliser.

Shot 8- For the final shot i am going to have a slow panning shot and then the company logo/ graphics will appear again and this will conclude the video.

Lighting plan

For the lighting plan i am going to be shooting the video at around 11-12 day time, as i am unable to use artificial lighting due to the power not being on in the house i am going to rely on natural light for the shoot. With a combination of the right exposure and iso levels i should be able to achieve correctly lit shots. As i would be shooting in one location.

Script

For my promotional video i did not require a script, this was because there was no dialect, the original voice over was not planned by me and was not included in the final draft therefore i am unable to obtain an accurate transcript/script for the voice over. Other than the voice over there was just a variety of shots, this was covered in detail by the shot list meaning i did not require a script.
